WINTER HAVEN - Charles Edward Wardle, Jr., 70, passed away Friday, January 23, 2015. 
Mr. Wardle was the President of Santa Fe Catholic High School in Lakeland, an adjunct faculty member with the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy's Fund Raising School, and a real estate broker with Florida Professional Realtors. 
He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who is survived by his wife, Marilyn, children Elizabeth (Orlando), Amanda (Dayton, OH), Samuel (Miami, FL), U.S. Army Spec. Joseph Gumpper (Fort Hood, TX), and Grace; step-daughter, Janelle Benkarmel; siblings, Gary Wardle (Louisville, KY), Melissa Burch (La Grange, KY), and Sidney Gardner (Louisville, KY); and grandchildren, Selah, Ori, Laila, Damien, Max, and Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Wardle and Shirley Lewis Wardle. 
A native of Louisville, KY, Mr. Wardle was born December 20, 1944. He was a graduate of Waggener High School and received a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Louisville in 1963, as well as a Masters in Spanish Literature from the University of Kentucky in 2000. He served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the late 1960s, and was a Linguist and Government Relations Manager with the Summer Institute of Linguistics/ Wycliffe Bible Translators in the 1970s. Mr. Wardle dedicated more than 30 years of his life to professional development in non-profit fundraising, serving as the first Director of Planned Giving for the Christian Appalachian Project, Director of Planned Giving at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY, Executive Director of the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation in Lexington, KY, and the Director of Donor Relations, Planned Giving, with the Catholic Diocese of Orlando. 
Mr. Wardle was recently inducted into the Knights of Columbus Council #2505, and was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Lakeland. He was a past president of the national University of Louisville Alumni Association and the Association of Fundraising Professionals' Lexington, KY, chapter, as well as a past volunteer for the United Way of the Bluegrass in Lexington, KY. 
Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015, at Church of the Resurrection, followed by a funeral Mass at 4 p.m. Reception will follow in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Grace Wardle Trust c/o SunTrust Bank, Special Handling, VA-Richmond-9292, PO Box 27572, Richmond, VA, 23261-7572.

I am so sorry to hear of Ed's passing.  He was a succesful father, business man and graduate of Waggener.  May his memory be eternal!!
