I saw his name on the travelling Viet Nam Memorial when it came to Madison, CT.  I remember how much he loved building model airplanes and talking about the Air Force.

I saw John several times in Louisville in 1969, shortly before the Air Force sent him to Vietnam.  The last time I saw him, he told me that he frankly did not expect to come back.  Not long afterward, I received word that he had been killed in action.  Rest in peace.

John was killed August 4, l969 in a helicopter crash, after being rescued  from his downed fighter jet. He was a 1st LT in the air force.  I remember  in our freshmen days, John always had a preoccupation with war, and loved airplanes.

John was a wonderful classmate and such a loss. My husband flew helicopters in Vietnam and I was so grateful to have him return safely. He was shot twice and shot down six times. I grew to feel it was such a waste of a war.
